From the age of six my family made sacrifices for me to endure college into my future, so we moved to the United States of America from Jamaica. They wanted me to pursue an education through the American schooling system, and to have opportunities they couldn’t receive. College is a big deal for many high school students but for my family and I, it’s an immense step. Receiving college education hasn’t been common in my family, which makes me one of the few to pursue it. This opportunity would make me the first in my intermediate family to receive a college education. For this reason I’ve devoted my time and energy into my school work and extracurricular activities such as Track and Field.
Track became my passion during middle school, and since then it’s only grown. As a Junior in high school, I see myself taking my passion of competing in Track and Field to college. I’ve been blessed to have amazing coaches that have not only trained me, but motivated me as well. With the motivation from my family, coaches and myself, I’ve decided to pursue a college education as well as competing at a collegiate athletic level.
