My name is Ally Henson and I am an incoming senior in high school. My specialty in Track and Field is the 100m hurdles. I am a hurdler/sprinter who also runs the 300m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 100m, and 200m.
I learned how to hurdle around October of my sophomore year of high school. This makes me different from other recruits because as of July 1st, 2018, I have only been hurdling for 1 and 3/4 of a year. Up until my sophomore year in high school, I was a sprinter. With all of this being stated, I know with the right training, coach, and school, I could potentially be one of the best hurdlers in the nation. Though I've just begun hurdling for a short time, I qualified for both New Balance Championships this past season (NBNI and NBNO.) I was also one of 28 to be invited to run for the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation (NSAF) national team and competed in the Bahamas.
I also do not attend a "regular" high school. I go to a performing and visual arts school which has no athletics, so during the school season I participate in plays and productions, as well as compete in track and field for my zoned school. I have incredible self-determination, which allows me to be very open and teachable. It also allows me to perform at my best academically and athletically. My uniques situation is challenging, but it takes a galaxy for me to give up on what I put my mind to.
