My name is Danielle, I am currently a Senior at Lyford High School. I am 5'4 and 116 pounds. I began getting involved in running events at a very young age. My mother entered me in my first 5K at the age of 7. My mom was a distance runner in her young career and continued running in 5Ks so I began to run with her. I continued to grow a passion for running as my mom became a Cross Country and Track coach. In my junior high years I was dominant in both cross country and track that I many times would run against JV and Varsity runners. I ran TAAF summer track and in 2009 broke the state record in the 1600M . I also played on a select soccer team. As I moved on into high school I continued with running and soccer. As a freshman I was 1st in district and 2nd at the Region IV-3A Cross Country Meet earning a trip to the UIL State Cross Country Meet where I was 23rd. I also won the 1600M in district and was 2nd at regionals earning a trip to the UIL State Track Meet. My sophomore year I won 1st in district and 9th at regionals at 26th at state. In track I was 1st in district in the 800M and 1600M and 2nd at regionals in the 800M. I was 2nd in State in the 800M. I was also named 64-3A MVP for soccer helping my team advance to district playoffs. At the end of my sophomore year my last name changed to Haas, before it was Rodriguez. My junior year I won the district cross country meet and advaced to regionals and missed qualifying for state by one placing. In track I won 1st in district in the 800M, 1600M and 4x400M relay. I was 2nd in regionals and 4th at the state meet in the 800M. I was first team all district in soccer and helped my team as a power forward advance to district playoffs. I continue to have a great passion for running and look forward to having a successful senior year. I am not playing soccer to focus on my running career. I am a strong middle to long distance runner looking to attend a college where I can continue to grow as an athlete. I would like to pursue a career in either nutrition or sports medicine.
