Hello, my name is Dominique McGill and I’m a sophomore at Foy H. Moody High School of Corpus Christi, Texas.
In school, I am in the distinguished program called the Health and Science Academy, which includes AP and dual credit classes. The purpose of this academy is to give students college credits, in other words, when I graduate I will receive my associate’s degree and be considered a sophomore in college.
At age 7 was I initiated in my God given talents, dancing and running track. In dance, I perform ballet, jazz, and lyrical. In church, I perform mime and praise dances. At school, I am apart of the drill team. At age 7, I joined AAU summer track and field. I ran the 100 meters and the 200 meters. As I began to get older, I grew stronger and gained more endurance; my coaches spotted potential for me to begin focusing on the 400 meter dash.
In middle school, I was the district champion my 7th and 8th grade year in both the 100 meters and the 400 meter with the time of a 64 in 7th grade and the record breaking time of a 62 in 8th grade. My freshman year, with the time of 59, I placed second in district and advanced to the regional meet, but due to an injury, I could not enact in the meet.
My senior year in high school, my goal is to run a 53 in the 400 meters. I would like to earn a division 1 scholarship for track and field. I would love to attend a university somewhere in the southeastern area. Preferably, the University of Florida, the University of Louisiana, Texas A and M of College station, or the University of Texas. I would like to pursue a degree in criminal law and justice.
My favorite bible scripture is found in Philippians 4:13, which states, "I can do ALL things THROUGH CHRIST who strengthens me."
