Hello, my name is Katelyn Wichar and I am going to be a rising senior at Walnut Grove High School in Prosper, Texas. Growing up, I have always been involved in sports, whether that’d be soccer or basketball. Once I got into middle school, I wanted to improve my fitness level to better prepare me for the upcoming soccer and basketball seasons. I ultimately decided to run cross country and ended up really disliking it, so I decided not to run my freshman year of high school. Due to my club soccer team breaking up at the end of my freshman year, I decided to give cross country another shot and absolutely fell in love with the sport. This influenced me to try out for track. I was still playing basketball at that point and even lettered my junior year, but I realized that I have potential in running and wanted to go all in. Down below are all of my athletic achievements I have earned since running starting my sophomore year:
Sophomore:
All-District in 5-6A 2022 (XC), September Student-Athlete of the Month (XC).
Prosper Rock Hill HS Rookie of the Year Track Award.
Junior:
Cross Country Team Captain, Runner of the Week (Awarded 8/10/23), August Student-Athlete of the Month, All-District in 10-5A (XC), All-Region 1-5A (XC), Prosper Walnut Grove HS Most Valuable Runner Award (XC), TGCA 5A All-State (XC).
Track Mid-Distance Team Captain, Prosper Walnut Grove HS Track MVP, Student Athletic Leadership Team Member (SALT).
