College is a big factor in my life because I need it to go into the profession in desire which is dentistry. However I do not just want college to be for academics, I also want it to meet new people and have fun. A huge contributor to the experience is throwing in college. This will allow me not to only meet new teammates but also experience new coaches and how they run the throwing program. I take my throwing very serious and in always try to better by doings things from practicing my form, to working out in the gym to become stronger in my legs and arms. I remember my first meet as a freshman on the track team. I was so nervous when in picked up my shot put, but went in the ring and knew that i had been practicing and had worked for this moment. So I went in the ring and threw, after leaving the ring I listened for my mark and the man yelled out 25 feet 3 inches. I was so excited to hear this because for my school the varsity team mark was 25 feet and I had just hit it my first throw of my freshman year. Now looking back on this season for my sophomore year I have the personal record of 28 feet and 11 inches. Looking at this number I still want to go out to the ring and try to better it because I want to push myself to my best ability. I believe that throwing in college will be a way of pushing myself the very best and seeing my accomplishments.
I know many coaches see profiles like mine everyday and could easily pass by it if I have nothing to offer. Unlike other girls that throw for their high schools have been throwing for only a few years. I on the other hand have been throwing since 8th grade. This is when I had first learned about throwing and had fell in love with it and ever since then I have been throwing and am planning on throwing my junior, senior year for high school and continuing throwing into my college career. My coach this year was new and I did not know how to feel because we have had other coaches and they had not helped us as throwers. Instead of just watching us she helped us with our form and also if we were having a bad day she could tell and would try to help us and talk to us about it rather than just brushing us off. My couch would describe me as diligent, helpful to others, goal oriented, bubbly, a good role model, and caring for other teammates. My teammates are one of the things that make me love throwing because they always are laughing and encouraging others to do better. My teammates would describe me as helpful, fun to be around, kind, funny, loving, outgoing, full of team spirit, and focus on team work more than only me and my throwing.
Right now I am a sophomore in high school going into my junior year. I think about my future almost everyday during school and what I could do to aid it to being the best I can make it. When I think about my life after high school I see myself going into all my prerequisites for my major. I plan on majoring in dentistry and than going on to become an orthodontist. Later I plan on getting a minor in business so I can launch my own orthodontic practice. When looking into my future and knowing I am throwing Division III measurements as a sophomore and getting better as i go on I am looking for Division I and Division II colleges. These colleges i prefer to be in my state of Utah and border states such as Colorado, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, and Oregon. I am specifically looking for schools in these areas because they are not to far from home and they will also give me a new experience of living without my parents and also meeting new people. I am also very open to being introduced to new cultures and diversity.
