Hi! I am Abbygail R Bott, I more commonly go by Abby. I’m a senior at Woods Cross High School and I live in Layton, Utah.
Academically, since my junior year, I really wanted to become a psychologist and that is what I have chosen to hopefully major in. I took AP psych and got a 5 on the AP exam. I am now taking AP Lit and AP Lang and am hoping to do well on those tests. I am also in Concurrent Enrollment at Weber State and got credit for Math 1010 and I’m in Math 1050 as of now. I love to challenge my knowledge and take harder classes that will hopefully benefit me in the future. I have always had good grades and as of now, I have a 3.869 out of 4.0. I got a 24 on my ACT and I got a 1210 on the SAT. I feel like I could’ve done better, I’m a really nervous test taker and I wish I had taken it one more time. I hope to be able to go to a college and really succeed there and thrive. School always comes first.
I have done track since 9th grade and fell in love with it, but I don’t feel like I got serious with it until this year. Since the coronavirus has cancelled my senior season, I feel like I never really got the chance to really succeed. I did cross country and indoor track for the first time my senior year. I was able to PR at every indoor meet and that was a huge accomplishment for me! My main events from 9th grade to 11th grade was the 100m and the 200m, I also competed in the 4x400m or the 4x800m when there wasn’t enough on the team sometimes. Since I did cross country, my coach switched me to doing the 200m and the 400m and I love it! I wish I had more of a senior season in order to be able to really show improvement and some more promise.
I have also played the piano since I was in 4th grade. Its my favorite instrument. I also play the viola and I was in orchestra from 7th to 10th grade, this challenged me because the viola is in a completely different clef than the piano. I love music and I feel like it has helped me become a better student in school because of my ability to play instruments. It has challenged my mind and I think more creatively and abstract. I did choir in 10th grade, but wasn’t able to continue because I had to focus on getting other credits to graduate.
During my senior year, I was the FCCLA president and I loved it! It was a good leadership opportunity for me and it was fun getting to know more people. I feel like that was what helped me become more comfortable leading others and speaking to adults. It was a really fun experience, until it came to an abrupt end because of the coronavirus.
Overall, I loved high school and still do, but I know it must come to an end. I’m ready to challenge myself in college and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
