Although originally a gymnast, competitive athletics have been part of my life since I was 4. Being an athlete has taught me the value of hard work, teamwork, and mental toughness. I first began competing track and field as a freshman for my high school, but only part time as I was still a competitive Junior Olympic Level 8 gymnast spending 20 hours a week in the gym. However, after a fairly successful Freshman year with little track-specific training, I decided to retire from gymnastics and focus on track. I love the straight forward aspect of track. You put in the work to either get the time, clear the bar, or your don't. This past Indoor season, my hard work really paid off as I broke the school and District Championship PV records, and became the District PV, LJ and 55m Champion with personal bests in all 3 events plus 200 split and 300m times. I even ran the fastest leg (26.5 in the leadoff position) of our 4x200 at states to lead my team to a 7th place finish and garner State Honorable Mention honors along with my 7th place PV finish. I was heartbroken to lose my Junior outdoor season to COVID, however I haven't and wont stop working! In addition to training on my own, I'll be training this summer with a track team and 2 PV clubs to be ready for any opportunity to compete my senior year.
Academically, I ended my junior year with 4 IB classes and a 4.04 weighted GPA for the year (3.81 cumulative). I'm looking for a collegiate opportunity that will allow me to continue my passion for both Sprinting and Pole Vault while pursuing my dreams in wildlife or environmental conservation.
