Ever since I was young, I have wanted to be part of something bigger than myself. Both my parents instilled in me the values of a selfless character, as well as one that worked hard to achieve her goals and dreams. They taught me not to think of myself as solely an individual, and stressed the importance of teamwork and leadership. Throughout high school thus far, I have learned a important lesson: it’s not just about success as just an individual, but about the success as a team. I truly do believe that being able to achieve something with a team by your side is far more rewarding then achieving something on your own. I value leadership and teamwork significantly, and I want to be able to bring what I have learned and continue to build upon those leadership skills. As I am becoming more in tune with my priorities, specifically in college athletics, I realize that my aspiration in the upcoming years is to become a positive asset to a team, as well as to make an significant impact as both a leader and teammate. I want to also improve as a runner in both cross country and track and field. College athletics are entirely different from high school, where the team camaraderie more significant. Not only do I want to be a part of a team, but I want to learn from the challenges and triumphs that form the bonds between teammates, and grow and improve upon my character with the knowledge of those downfalls and successes. I feel my characteristics of leadership, resilience, and work ethic would allow me to be a great fit for a college team!
Personal Bio
I have always been very active ever since I was young, and have experimented with several sports in the past. I competitively swam for York Swim Club for 6 years, and am a member of my high school’s varsity swim team. I qualified for districts, regionals, and states for the 500 free, where I set a school record in the event. I was also a lacrosse player for 4 years, and played soccer throughout elementary and middle school. It was in the 6th grade that I started running. I joined my high school team and have loved it ever since!
I wanted to also share a few personal things about myself as well! I love school, and strongly value academics. I love challenging myself in many different classes, but English and History are two of my favorites! In terms of my future, I definitely want to pursue athletics in college. My mom and dad were D1 athletes at West Point, and have accomplished so much since graduating from the academy. I have a twin sister, Emerson, and a younger brother, Brayden.
Academically, I currently hold a 4.12 GPA in all IB classes. I value leadership, and have been Student a council Freshman Secretary, Sophomore Vice President, as well as a member of the Health and Wellness Committee at GMHS. Outside of school, I serve as a Citizens For a Better City Student Representative for the Falls Church Education Foundation, and am a head Girls on the Run Coach at the local elementary school on our city. I am also a 2x team captain for the Varsity Girl's Cross Country team.
