I grew up playing soccer and swimming competitively where I learned that I thrive in a team environment as I understand that I am one gear in a machine that is a team and can take that mindset and work towards reaching success as a team. I have been given several opportunities in these sports because of my coachability and work ethic, even if the talent wasn’t always there. As an athlete, I am constantly looking for coaching input from any avenue I can get it from (such as other event or school coaches, alumni, camp counselors and peers) and apply the feedback I have received to all areas of my life such as nutrition, rest/recovery, and training. I challenged myself during my sophomore year to train with the varsity male team and have been training nearly full-time with them since then, according to their training program, which has afforded a rigorous training environment. Additionally, I am able to juggle the commitments that come from year-round running, the responsibilities of a team captain, a heavy academic course-load, and extracurricular participation all with little parental oversight. I am seeking a program that will build upon my work ethic and desire for continuous improvement for mutual benefit.
