I love track and field because of all of the opportunities it has given me and the incredible diversity and community that is unique to track and field. I wish to pursue throwing in college because throwing helps me to handle the pressures that accompany everyday life and it provides me with a strong support system and a healthy release of stress. Through track and field I have learn how to be stronger, not only as an athlete, but as a person and teammate. I believe I would be a good recruit to throw in college because I have a sincere love for the sport and a continuous drive to improve, as well as an strong work ethic that I will apply in very task that is put in front of me. I know I can become a great thrower, and I will continue to work hard everyday until I get there.
I am different from many other prospective recruits because I strive to be a well rounded student inside and outside of the classroom. I have always prided myself in pursuing a rigorous course schedule and fighting for every grade I receive. I have worked hard for a 4.15 GPA and am proud of my academic success. I have always made extra-curricular activities a priority as well. Aside from sports, I am in three clubs, two honor societies, I was a part of a student action committee for two years, have participated in New Gen Peace-Builders, and have been a founding member and designer of two mentoring programs in my school district. One of the biggest achievements in my life is being able to help start and facilitate a mentoring program at an elementary school that works to share the stories of refugee children and all that they experience. I wish to make a difference in my community before I graduate and find creative ways to positively impact those around me.
