Avril Wilson '22 Recruiting Profile

Avril's interest in athletic activities first sprouted looking up from the stands at a Cirque du Soleil artist high flying in the air.  After being inspired by these individuals extraordinary abilities at a young age, she began to take aerial arts classes at the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts (SANCA). Here she was taught the vigor and determination it takes to be good at such a technical activity, and yet this is how she fell in love the same. Her love for aerial soon transformed after starting high school and discovering yet another high flying activity, the pole vault. Never before had she experienced a sport that not only strengthened and tested her body, but her mind as well.  The amount of technique and cadence of steps it takes from the first step of the run, to the final curvature of the body over the bar, leave each vault an opportunity for exponential growth. She is determined to take each chance, every step, every jump, to new heights.
