Personal Statement

I love sports and competing whether it is cross country, basketball or more recently track and field. My sophomore year I was introduced to high jumping, and the 4 X 400 relay. I am a competitor at heart and realize I enjoy the variety offered by both individual sports like high jump and team sports such as basketball.

I enjoy trying new things which lead me to pursue high jumping. Last year as a sophomore, I was named Outstanding High Jumper for the 2020 – 2021 season with a PR of 4'11 feet.  I have improved my PR as a junior to 5'3. Track and field allow me to compete on an individual level constantly striving to set a new PR yet also allows me to contribute to the success of a team.

Academically, I have a unique educational experience attending an International Christian School in Japan for four years where my father was principal. Living abroad, I was introduced to Japanese language, culture, and history, as well as other parts of Asia where I learned to appreciate and embrace cultural diversity. Stateside in the classroom, I enjoy art, AP history, and yearbook where I have studied hard and maintain a high GPA.

I would like to attend a college where I may play both basketball and high jump as well. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition that will both develop my athletic potential and help me discover my future career.
