My name is Abigail Londeree, though I usually go by Abbey. I have been running Cross Country and Track for 6 years now. I am a 3 time qualifier for the West Virginia State Cross Country Championships and won the 2021 Region 3 Cross Country Race. My track events include the 3200m, the 1600m and the 4x800m. I am very interested in trying a field event this year, so I might be competing in the long jump.
Running has always been a stress relieving hobby for me. Whenever I go outside, my first thought that comes to mind is running. I always had a lot of energy in me as a kid, so I would take that energy and go out for a run. My favorite hobbies besides running are drawing, writing and reading. These help me stay calm if I feel anxious. I also really enjoy listening to music run to block out the noises that could cause a distraction in my focus. Before I start a race, I am mentally focused and ready to go. I avoid as many distractions as possible and my heart, mind, body and soul are focused on the race. I would definitely consider myself a strong mental runner. If I see someone I want to catch in a race or heat, I never hold back. I am a very determined athlete who strives every day to do better. After a race is over, my mind is focused immediately on the next one.
My biggest accomplishment of my running career would have to be winning the 2021 West Virginia Region 3 AAA Cross Country race. Nobody expected me to win that race or believed I could. Proving others wrong about my capabilities is my favorite part about myself. If someone doesn't believe in me, I set out to prove them wrong.
I strive for success, not only in my sport, but in my academics as well. I take my studies very seriously and I've always put my grades before anything else. I am a member of the National Honor Society and have a 3.97 GPA. I have been active in the Health Occupation Students of America and hope to study Physical Therapy. I have competed in the History Bowl in 8th grade and multiple Social Studies fairs. English and Social Studies are my 2 favorite subjects, but I strive to do better in every class I take. I believe I will work even harder on my academics and running at the college level and continue to stay determined. I am ready to face the challenges that are waiting ahead for me!
