I am Emma Haddox and I am currently a sophomore at Wahama High School. Freshman year was very exciting ,but at some moments quite challenging. Track is new to me ,but I have grown so much because of it. During my freshman year of high school I wanted to try something new. I decided to join track and ended up falling in love with the sport. The track season started ,and I learned more and more about throwing every day. At times it was frustrating, and my dad and I would look on YouTube for hours just to learn new techniques. At Wahama High School we sadly do not have a throwing coach, but I haven’t used that as an excuse. After starting my freshman season around 60 feet and ending with 94 feet at my final meet of the season, I knew if I worked harder I would excel even more. I pride myself greatly in putting in those extra 30 minutes or 5 more reps in at the gym. After freshman year I decided I wanted to pursue my passion of track. I started working year round, which includes many throwing camps such as multiple (TCR) camps focusing on both shot and disc. Over the course of the summer I have gained an average of 5 more feet and have my personal best even higher. I am very committed to achieving my goals, and lifting other teammates up with their goals as well. I am very social, and love learning new skills or experiences. I look forward to putting in work, and achieving my goals one by one. I am very thrilled to see what my sophomore season will entail. Thank you for reviewing my personal statement.
