Ever since fourth grade when I placed far ahead of my peers in a school track meet, I have had a goal of running successfully beyond high school. This goal stayed with me through my freshman year struggling with a stress fracture. Cross-training was grueling both physically and mentally. This brought my mental strength to a whole new level. Losing my favorite event and picking up another has taught me to adjust and move on positively. Having the ability to place 5th at the 2016 WIAA State Track and Field meet having only a cross training base and very little experience in the event (400m) raised my confidence and helped me realize I am still a runner. This motivated me to continue cross training and think positively of my future seasons when I can train by running.
Not only is it a goal for me to run in college, but also to succeed academically. Track and cross country have shaped everything I do. They have taught me dedication and self sacrifice. I do my school work with passion. I am a dedicated student who realizes my academic career is just as important as my athletic career. My involvement in my sport has sparked an interest for my career choice as well. I am considering a career path of an athletic trainer or physical therapist.
Being named the MVP of my varsity team as a freshman shows my dedication and value to my team. Relationships with my coaches, trainer, and teammates are the glue that keeps everything together. I believe it is super important to build and maintain these relationships, making the team stronger. I know I have the talent, leadership and drive to make a positive impact on your college team.
