My name is Charley Brinks and I'm currently a junior at Menomonee Falls High School. I've been involved in sports for as long as I can remember, but I've been running track with the intention of participating in college since my freshman year. In my freshman year, I had the opportunity to run the 100-meter dash at the Wisconsin D1 regional meet, just barely missing qualification for sectionals. After my first high school season, I decided to participate in AAU track and field on a club team to further improve. My first AAU season had amazing effects on my progression in my main events, the 100-meter, and 200-meter. I was able to showcase my progress at the WIAA state meet in my sophomore year in the 100-meter, where I placed 12th. I continued to run through the summer where I later ran at the AAU Junior Olympics as the third leg in the 4x100-meter relay.
The discipline I’ve developed through my track career translates into my academic abilities as well. I believe that no amount of athletic ability can offset academic accomplishment. I've worked to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout my time in high school so far, while also improving my running. I believe that I can make a difference on a college team and I can't wait to see how I'll improve.
