Taylor Ford '24 Recruiting Profile

I started pole vaulting freshman year of high school. I was told that I should try pole vault because I was a gymnast. I joined the sport thinking it was going to be just another hobby and a nice opportunity, but once I started competitions and going to a club, I fell in love with the sport. The sport and my teammates have taught me many life lessons. Pole vault is a very mental sport. My teammates and coaches have taught me that failure is okay, but you must always get back up and try the vault again. The sport requires mental toughness, hard work, and self discipline. I would like to think that I have gained all of these qualities in the past couple years through pole vaulting. My academic goals are to continue to maintain my high grade point average and to stay on track, through positive thinking and good study habits.
