I started off swimming to learn it as a skill, as most children do when they are 5 years old. That first lesson struck a chord with me and I decided to try the local YMCA's swim team out at 6 years old. I kept swimming for the next few years to stay in shape and made some new friends. When I got my first state cut at 10 years old I fell in love with the sport. I had so much fun competing and training that I couldn't see myself doing anything else. I have continued to improve every year since that first state cut, to the tune of All-American and state champion status. This is a sport that I want to put all my effort into, and I wish to continue to do that at the college level. I gave 100% 8 years ago, I will continue to give 100% for the next 8. Even though I put a lot of work into the sport I still like to have fun with it and meet new people, that to me is almost as important as swimming itself.
