Trying new things. It may be scary, but is usually worth it.
I was scared as the only 6th grader trying out for my school’s JV volleyball team, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. Taking that step, allowed me to find not only a sport I enjoy, but one I have the talent to play. By 7th grade, I played up with our varsity team and, today, I look for every opportunity to get better. Playing volleyball has made me a better leader, friend, and teammate, while also helping me improve in other sports (For example, diving for balls on the volleyball court translates well into diving for pop fly’s on the softball field). My love for the game has me seeking opportunities to play beyond my high school years. My education is important – I am ranked 1st in my class – so I hope to find a college that will help me succeed both in the classroom and on the court!
