Some players look good in a hitting line, I play great when the game is on the line. I think I'm pretty good in a hitting line too.
Character
Confidence, perseverance, and work ethic are traits that most identify who I am. At 10 years old I was diagnosed with Petit Mal Seizures, which meant I had many micro seizures per hour and sometimes per minute. Thankfully this condition wasn’t permanent and I grew out of it as I got older. I’m grateful this is part of my life story, because through it I learned what it means to work hard in all areas of my life especially academics and athletics.
My ultimate goal is to have a positive impact on everyone I meet. Whether that is through my positive attitude or by my example in how I conduct myself both on and off the volleyball court. One of the best compliments I've ever received playing volleyball was that I seem to make everyone playing around me better. I think that is partly due to my positive attitude, but it also comes from my level of effort and my ability to quickly move past a bad play.
Athletics
I am not a natural athlete or normally the tallest player on the court and I’ve always been the youngest player on every volleyball team I’ve ever played on. To overcome these odds I’ve had to put in more effort outside of practice than everyone else by strength training weekly and seeking to improve my volleyball skills by participating in every practice or clinic I could find to become a well rounded player. I feel like all of my hard work was recognized this past summer when I was invited to participate in the USA High Performance Camp (Level A2) in Colorado Springs.
Academics
My perseverance has also been shown in my academic achievements. I started attending Arizona State University’s Prep Academy, which is a combination of high school courses and actual collegiate courses. I will graduate high school with 24-30 university credits already completed. This will enable me to either double major or graduate early and start on my Master’s Degree at whichever school I’m fortunate enough to play volleyball at. I’m still undecided on my major but I’m currently leaning towards Mathematics or Data Analytics.
