My name is Tyra Anderson and I recently completed grade 10 at Earl Marriott Secondary in Surrey, BC, Canada. I have been playing volleyball since I was 10 years old. Ever since playing post-secondary volleyball became my dream, I have put countless hours into developing my mental and physical game.
I play competitive volleyball for Academy Volleyball Club (http://www.academyvolleyball.ca/anderson) and was a starter on my high school varsity team as a grade 10. My club team finished 5th in the province and my high school team finished 2nd in the province. I consider myself a very powerful player. Although I am only 5’7”, my jump approach of 9’8”, my power, my explosiveness, and my aggression with the ball more than compensates for my height. I have a very strong arm swing and jump serve. I consider myself a leader on and off the court.
I am also actively involved in volunteering in my community. One of my favourite volunteer experiences was coaching the Seaside Atomic Program- a program where younger athletes can develop their volleyball skills before their first year of club. I really enjoyed being able to share my love for the game and it was a great opportunity for me. I also spent a couple months volunteering at a local Alzheimer’s home and helped out continuously in my school community organizing and running events.
In the classroom, I am a very motivated, independent, and hard worker and have always maintained a high GPA. I have been on the honor roll every year since grade 8. My best subjects are math and science and I am interested in pursuing medicine after university.
My dream is to attend a university where I can continue to challenge and push myself as a student and as an athlete. At this point I am keeping my options open and want to ultimately find the university that best suits my academic and athletic interests.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and I look forward to hearing from you and your school.

All the best,
Tyra Anderson
