My name is Addison Kranz, I am an Outside/Rightside for the class of 2023. I have played volleyball for 9 years and have played competitive club for 4 years. I became interested in becoming a committed volleyball player when I was about 13 years old. What has helped me to continue with my vision of becoming the best player I can be are my volleyball idols. I look up to my mother who played in college, my club coaches, and pro-volleyball athletes including Jordan Larson and Kathryn Plummer. Their mental and physical dedication to the game is inspiring.
I am competitive, coachable, and determined. I have noticed that I have become a better person by competing in this sport. I used to dwell on my mistakes in games or practices, but now when I step onto the court I am focused on getting better for myself and for my teammates and coaches. A coach once told me "If it isn't going to matter in 5 years, don't worry about it for more than 5 minutes" which is something that can apply to most situations. I also enjoy using strategies from coaches to come up with 3 goals during each practice that will help me get better for the next match. Trust, respect, and teamwork are more attributes this sport has taught me. Helping my teammates succeed has been extremely rewarding.
I am a versatile player on the court. For the past 4 years, I have played outside on my club and high school teams. I’ve played libero or setter when a teammate was out at practices. During this past high school season, I was asked to play rightside to assist with blocking and balancing the court dynamic. I was able to adjust quickly and had 26 kills the second time I played in this position. I was a team captain and awarded 1st team all league, MVP and best offensive player.
My academic goals are to complete challenging classes and to have a balanced life outside of the gym and classroom. I want to be able to graduate and get my high school diploma with a 4.0 GPA or above. I am taking an AP Biology course to discover if my interest in Marine Biology will continue after high school. I also have an interest in Child Development. I am searching for a college that offers hardworking academics and a competitive volleyball program.
