Aija Redding VB-L...Hello! Thank you for viewing my profile.
Volleyball has opened my eyes to the competitive nature inside of me. I learned that I am a cooperative and coachable player who is open to different positions- any way I can get on the court.
I missed most of my freshman season on the Monterey Trail High School Junior Varsity volleyball team due to a broken elbow. I was dismayed over my time on the side, sitting at our practices doing my homework, and watching and cheering on my teammates. This hitch in my volleyball career led to an even stronger passion to play. Additionally, the death of my coach, Marisha Williams, at the start of my varsity season as a junior, drives me to strive for greatness. Her voice in my ear every time I step on the court saying that I am meant for immense success, further increased my passion for the sport that I love.
My most prominent attributes in and outside of volleyball is that I am ready for any challenge I encounter, I am not easily intimidated, I am open-minded, and I am a natural-born leader. No matter what I face, you will never catch me backing down. I aim my academic goals high because I know that what I accomplish now, will determine what I will accomplish in the future. My current GPA is a 3.97, and I want to end my senior year higher than my existing cumulative GPA with a full ride academic or athletic scholarship. I also want to major in psychology in hopes to have a profession as a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist.
