Sydney Stephens '24 Recruiting Profile

My interest in volleyball started when I was around eleven years old. It was when I had seen that my middle school was having tryouts soon and I thought it would be fun to try out. I really wanted to see what volleyball was like because my mom had always talked about how she played in high school and she loved it.  So, I ended up trying out and I made the team. I have always tried my hardest especially when it comes to volleyball because when I first started playing I wasn't one of the best people on the team but that made me feel more motivated to train more and get better. 

Currently, I am playing for my high school on the Varsity team as a libero/ds, and my club season just ended and this year I played on Aspire 17/18 Pink. Balancing school and a sport can definitely be difficult, but I find if I can make time just to focus on work, whether it's in the morning or night, I keep up with my work. I used to really struggle in school especially during COVID when I was doing distance learning. But ever since then I found out that even if you hit rock bottom you can always recover if you just put a little time and effort into what you need to do to be successful.  Some goals I have for college are to complete my general education and get a bachelor's degree in four years.
