My interest in sports began when my brother hit me in the head with a football when I was 3 years old. From that point on I tried karate, all forms of dance, tennis, soccer, track and field, and when I was in middle school, I was the only girl on our flag football team playing running back. Once I discovered volleyball, it instantly became my passion and focus. When I began my club volleyball career, not only did my love of the game flourish, I also found out the importance of accountability, camaraderie, teamwork, and time management.
When I was younger, I struggled with many learning challenges including reading, writing, organization, and planning. This affected my self-confidence in school. The discipline that came with playing on a club team, along with extra support and finding a new school which was a better fit for me academically, helped me thrive. I am proud to say I am now on my school's highest academic Honor Roll and Dean's List. My interests lie in psychology, sociology, criminology, and the medical field.
I was adopted from China when I was a baby into a white family with two older brothers who are biological to my parents. Being adopted is part of what fuels my desire to help people through their difficult experiences. I am a fiercely loyal teammate, a dedicated daughter, and partner-in-crime sister to my brothers. I am excited for all the opportunities that await me in college, both in the classroom and on the court.
