Hi there,
My name is Karrington Kenney and i aspire to always educate to make a change. My current long term goals are to graduate from a four year with a degree in criminal justice then obtain my masters degree. The next step would be attending law school to become a Civil Rights lawyer. After continuously seeing injustice and unfair treatment, I want to ultimately take action and help those wrongfully accused. No one deserves to be locked up for the color or their skin or a crime not committed by them. I'm currently Vice President of my schools Black Student Union and new member of the Speech and Debate team. After showing bravery, being the only person to speak up about a controversial topic at my school occurring in October, I've been been thanked and invited by the city o to speak at multiple events as a student advocate. As a result of my actions, I've been invited to speak at the 2019 woman's march as one of the only 4 speakers in the region.
I've been told i'm extremely coachable and once i master what I've been told to work on i can dominate on the court. I think i differ from the other candidates because i'm constantly trying to be at my best on and off the court.I know when it's time to have fun but i also definitively take volleyball very seriously, so when it's game time I've got my game face on and i'm ready to play. At the end of the day, the overall goal is to always excel. If that means asking what i'm doing wrong, what i need to do to get stronger/faster, or how to improve my skills overall, then that is what i'll be doing day in and day out.
Academically, I have the same mindset. I'll always push myself to put out my best and ask questions when i'm struggling because asking for help isn't a sign of weakness it's a sign strength and motivation to succeed. I work extremely hard because i set many checkpoint goals for where i want to be by certain date, in order to fulfill all of my short term goals leading to my long term goals.
Best,
Karrington Kenney
