I absolutely love the game of volleyball and look forward to the opportunity to play in college. I grew up learning to appreciate competition and the importance of striving to be the very best version of myself. I watched my older sister grow as a skilled soccer player. I also followed my cousin through her volleyball successes. My family has not only inspired me, they have taught me that hard work and determination pay off. Growing up, I played soccer, basketball and volleyball. I fell in love with volleyball because it was more technical and strategic. It challenged me not only physically but also mentally. I respect a sport that exercises your mind as well as your body.
In the seven years I have been playing volleyball, I have learned that I am tremendously competitive, I strive for perfection, and I don’t give up. I also love playing with a team. I like the comradery and building relationships through shared experiences. I thoroughly enjoy learning from, teaching and also uplifting others.
Volleyball has never come easy for me. I have had to work extremely hard to get where I’m at. I have been told no many times, but I have never given up. I always say, “I will keep working and trying until they stop saying no.” This has given me the drive to work hard for what I want and to never take anything for granted. It has pushed me to develop the work ethic and skills I possess today.
My ultimate goal in high school is to maintain or even increase my 4.2 GPA. I would also like to grow my volleyball skills and stay connected through other clubs and activities. In college, my main goal is to excel both academically and athletically, making me a well-rounded collegiate.
Aside from volleyball, I enjoy the art and exploring my creative outlets. I love to draw, paint and write.
