When I think about it my greatest obstacle and my greatest success is actually one in the same, dyslexia. Coming to terms with my learning disability has allowed me to see that my value and worth is not based on grades alone but who I am as a person. Character, integrity and morals are the values that speak to the whole person. I may not be a straight "A" student and may never be but I am a good student. I have learned that academically I may not always have the highest grade but in volleyball I can have the highest jump. I can be the captain, the leader, the best that I can be and fully engage in a sport that is geared towards my strength and not my weakness.
Volleyball has given me so many different opportunities to grow physically, emotionally and in relationships. The excitement and energy of the game stimulates my desire to want to play in college. Wins are great but losses are what drives my motivation to get better. I watch every game after a loss to analyze my personal mistakes and my teams overall performance and unforced errors. One of my greatest joys of the game is the comaraderie a team and how working together makes all of us better. I look forward to that same bond in college. I have been invited to play with the American Team vs Dominican Republic in the summer of 2021.
I am currently interested in dentistry specializing in orthodontics or psychology. Dentistry because I have a thing for teeth. Your smile is one of the greatest gifts you can give it should be accompanied with nice teeth, or psychology because I am also interested in how past events and current environments affects how we develop emotionally.
