I am a young Senior at Oakmont High School in Roseville, CA. I am the graduating class of 2018. I will be 17 years old November 26th, 2017.
I love volleyball and I love studying medicine. I am in my third year of a program called Health Academy at Oakmont High School.
My academic goal is to major in the healthcare field. I interviewed my freshman year and was accepted into Health Academy . Oakmont Health Academy allows me to transfer credits in college. I had to interview to get accepted into this program. I competed against approximately 150 applicants, with only 50 available spots. This is a 3 year program. It is challenging with lots of studying and homework. I accept the challenge maintaining my grades , training hard, going to the gym and playing the sport I love.
This year I job shadowed in hospitals and followed up with clinicals in pediatrics and antepartum.
Now, during my summer vacation I will be doing a 100 hour internship at Pre/Post Operation Center at Sutter Roseville, which I am very excited about.
I just finished school season. We did pretty well. We ended up making it to the playoffs for the first time in 4 years. Our coach was very proud of us. My stats were pretty good. You can view my stats on Max Preps.
I will be playing for SynergyForce Volleyball Club my last season on the 18-1 Power Team. I am very excited.
I have also been offered an assistant coaching position at SynergyForce for the 11’s Premier Team. I am very honored and excited to be given this opportunity to be a good role model for these young players.
I have played Power League Volleyball for 7 years now. I have played for Synergy Force Volleyball Club the past 3 years , NCVC before that. These clubs are two of the top clubs in Northern CA. I play the positions setter and opposite hitter. Throughout my volleyball experience, I have also played outside and defensive specialists. I can be an all around player on the court.
I have trained with Addie Hauschild in Rocklin, CA, Griff Joyce and Carson Lowden.
Carson Lowden has been a huge plus on my setting skills. She has been a big help to me. Carson has been amazing for me physically and mentally. With her great training, I feel I have improved so much with her help.
I have been recruited by Carson Lowden at American River College and signed my Letter of Commitment. I will attend ARC for two years, then on to a 4 year to obtain my nursing degree.
Sincerely,
Summer McCallson
