I started playing softball at the age of 10. I realized due to the slow pace that I needed to be involved as much as I could, so I started pitching. I pitched thru my freshman year. When high school was approaching I decided that I wanted to learn how to play volleyball, so I could try out for my high school team. I immediately fell in love with the sport due to the action and the fact that it came naturally to me. I have been playing year round ever since. When I'm not playing club or high school I get in as many privates as I can and work out regularly with a Kinesiologist. My dream is to play volleyball at the colligate level.
I am a versatile competitive team player. I believe good team camaraderie and competiveness is essential to success. I always self evaluate after every workout, game or tournament to recognize my weakness so I can work on it to improve my game for my teammates. I have played all positions for my high school team and as a result it has helped me to anticipate where to be on the court.
In class I achieved all academics last year and will do the same this year. I take AP and honor courses and currently hold a 3.5 GPA. I'm assistant editor and photographer for the year book. Outside of school I'm a member of the local Kiwanis Club where we support the community, schools, and provide funding for scholarships.
I will work as hard as I can to improve the skills needed to help my team win.
Sincerely,
Makayla Vian
