I have been playing volleyball since I was 9 years old. I have always been surrounded by players better than I was, which is why when I got to high school, I was determined to prove to myself that I could be a great player. I learned discipline, team skills, how to be a leader, and through hard work, I earned a position on the Varsity team.
Over the years my skill set has changed and improved drastically. I discovered that I am a natural defensive player and that I have a strong competitive nature that changes me into a leader on the court. I know that playing at the collegiate level is something than many athletes aspire to do, but not many achieve it. I hope that if I reach that goal, the lessons I learn on the court will help shape me into a better person and an even better athlete.
Although much of my time and passion is focused on volleyball, academics is still a very important part of my life. I am an extremely focused student, having never had below a 4.0 GPA. I continue to challenge myself with rigorous courses and aim to be at the top of my class.
Recently, I suffered an injury that cost me a season of high school volleyball and it made me realize how much I love to be on the court. I believe it is a test of my commitment, to see how far I will go to be able to step back on the court again. Watching from the sides is something that I could never do and I am trying so hard to make sure that volleyball will be a part of my life no matter where I go, what I decide to do with my life or whether I am recruited or not. Volleyball is something I love and I hope I get the chance to continue playing at college level.
