My name is Mikayla Ray, I am a Junior at Turlock Christian and I play volleyball and basketball. I have been on varsity since my freshman year.
At my school they issued Characteristic awards. The majority of mine has always been the characteristic “perseverance”. Anybody who knows me will agree this is my most valuable trait. I do struggle with academics, especially tests. I persevere through it by studying hard and dedicating a lot of time and energy, which is why I am proud of my GPA.
I have always loved being an athlete and being good at what I do. I am looking forward to playing at the college level and improving my skills. I am willing to work hard, try new techniques and learn. Coaches always comment on how coachable I am and they love my leadership and energy that I bring to the team. During my experience on varsity and club teams, I have learned that it is not all about you and you need to work together to become a successful team. I can play every position, and have played many positions for my team filling in for positions. I am looking to focus on the setting and hitter positions. I have been playing volleyball ever since I was about 10 years old and I just absolutely love playing it.
My academic goals for high school is to finish out my high school years doing the best I can and taking classes that challenge me. For college, I want to be an elementary teacher and a high school volleyball and basketball coach. Not only am I good at sports, but I absolutely just love kids! This is why I want pursue this career path. I am hoping to change a child’s life by helping them persevere academically and athletically.
I love the lord with all my heart. He has led me on some mission trips, serving others which has been an invaluable experience. I can’t wait to see the doors they He opens up for me in the future.
I am excited to play at the college level and will be a great, dedicated, hardworking, team leader and player.
