I began playing volleyball in kindergarten after my mom signed me up for a recreational league. During the first few years of my career I was still participating in other sports. However, volleyball was the only one that I really clicked with and was passionate about. Because of volleyball I have learned a lot about myself, not just as a player but as a person. Over the years it has become obvious to me that I enjoy having a leadership role among my teammates and am not afraid to advocate for myself and others. Some of the most influential people in my life that have pushed me to become the person and player I am are my mom and my dad. Since I can remember they have always supported me through all of my dreams and have encouraged me no matter what.
During my 13’s year I had an incredible team with supportive team mates. After a successful final tournament in the normal season our libero decided that she didn’t want to attend nationals with our team. Initially I never saw myself stepping into her spot, because I had never had a big role in defense before. I had always played right side. Despite that during our first day at nationals we were struggling, and my coach had asked me to play libero. Initially, I was nervous but after the first set I had a new found love for defense. Ever since then I have been passionate about playing libero and have been growing and progressing in that position.
