Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Kya’ Willis and I am currently a Senior at James Irwin High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  I began playing volleyball in 6th grade and have been passionate about the sport ever since.  My ultimate goals in college are to join a volleyball family and receive an excellent education while pursuing Nursing.

All three years of middle school, I tried out and was selected to play on the top tier teams.  This was humbling being I didn’t have any prior experience or formal training.  During the early stages of my new-found excitement, I learned about teamwork and developed my skills by welcoming constructive feedback.

I was overjoyed when as a Freshman, I was selected to play on the Varsity team.  I had so much to prove since all of my teammates were upperclassmen with great talent and already had established bonds.  I remained calm, built meaningful relationships, listened to my mentors and practiced hard.  My sight was set on achieving greatness and over the years, and now I’ve become an integral part of the Varsity team.  My biggest accomplishment - at the end of my 2019 high school season I was thrilled to be chosen as “Most Valuable Player” of the year.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
