Personal Statement

The most commonly asked question one hears throughout their young adult life is “What do you want to be when you grow up?”  This means that people have plenty of time to think long and hard about their response; however it is the hardest question to answer.  Plans, interests, and observations change as one learns the ways of the world.  People encounter life changing experiences that move them in a different direction in their life.  I stand with the changing population in this world.  I have dreams of what I want my life to turn out, but who knows what new things I will confront before I have a career.  Right now I have interest in becoming a veterinarian, medical student, or an engineer.  I am aiming for a path that can take me far in life.  I love to learn.  Each time I learn something new a part of the world opens up.  This is why I don’t mind the thought of going to school for twelve more years instead of four, or however many it may take.  My goal is to be able to provide for my family without help from anyone because I am independent.  Exercise and competition are also a big part of my life.  Since I started playing volleyball and hockey at the high school level, I have dreamt of continuing that level of competition through the collegiate level.  Competition is what I do.  I incorporate it into all the aspects of my life that I can.  I couldn’t imagine ending my volleyball career this year.  That is not an option for me.  Coming from a small town I have worked very hard in trying to put myself out there as a prospect to college coaches.  My goal is to play at the collegiate level and I will expect nothing less from myself.
