I have been competing in sports from the first time I was allowed to. From softball, rodeo, basketball, volleyball, and track, I have stayed busy and active.
Because I am a multiple sport athlete, it has been hard for me to make a decision on what sport I want to continuing perusing out of high school. I have chosen volleyball because my love for the game has grown tremendously. I never want practice to be over with, and I always want to be in the gym. I am an athlete that will push to my limits at all times. I have never been one to slack off. I strive to be a team leader, and I feel like my teammates look up to me. This past year, I was team captain alongside another teammate of mine. I enjoyed having the responsibility of leading my team. I will be honest and say I have struggled with an attitude in sports. It was an attitude that i had to be perfect, and I would beat myself up if I messed up. I would be really angry at myself. I have improved over the years, especially this past year. I am overcoming this attitude and I believe that my upcoming season will be my best yet.
I have played all the way around every year. My freshmen year, I hit outside and right side. I was a midder hitter my sophomore and junior year. I led 1A blocking both of those years, and I was second in blocking 1A through 5A my junior year. I also hit every position my junior year for the most part. I have always had a passion for defense also. I will do everything I can to get the ball up. Exploring the setters position my upcoming senior year will just add to my flexibility too.
My goal for 2018 is to lead even better for my team and to not get down on myself when i make a mistake. I will be switching to setter position this year because our two setters will be graduating. This will be a challenge for me because I have never been in the position. However, I know I will be the best I can be for my team. I will still be hitting too, most likely in the outside position.
In school, I have always strived to get straight A’s and I haven’t let myself down yet. I have taking many college courses already and my 4.0 remains solid. I’ve been on the superintendent’s honor roll every year. I am also currently number one in my class of 25.
