My name is Adrianna Barnes, I am an outside hitter and will be graduating from Columbine High School in 2020.
Volleyball has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. While I participated in swimming, dance and basketball when I was younger, volleyball became my passion and I have gone on to play for both a club team and my high school. As a freshman, I made the junior varsity team as a starter. I was very happy that I could contribute at this level and to the success of the team while I continued to work on my skills. Beginning with my sophomore year, I have been a starter on the Varsity team and have earned player of the match awards.
My club volleyball team is Sudden Impact Volleyball Club where I have now been for 5 years as an outside hitter. I have been fortunate to play above my age group the last 4 years, giving me the ability to challenge myself and improve my skills at a higher level. During the 2018 club season, my team earned a bid for Junior Nationals in Detroit, Michigan.
As a player, I can describe myself as determined, mentally tough, passionate and very coachable. I work hard at every practice to improve my skills and my strength. I listen and try to incorporate what my coach tells me into my play and my life and understand that there is always room for improvement. I am serious about my play and tend to be more tough on myself than anyone else. I take pride in being a good teammate. I can be quiet and reserved but my team is my main priority. I want all of us to succeed and want my teammates to know I appreciate their skills and encourage them when we are winning or having a rough set.
Aside from volleyball, I also enjoy modeling and travelling and animals. I’ve gone to modeling school and was accepted onto the International Modeling and Talent team. Along with that, I have travelled to many states for volleyball tournaments, many countries with family and Europe with my Spanish class. I have also had numerous hands on learning experiences with exotic animals that include Manatee, Dolphins, South African Sea Lions, Walruses, Penguins and stingrays. All these opportunities have helped shape me into the person I am.
In the classroom, I am a serious student. While my best subjects are English and Science, I challenge myself by taking Honors and AP classes each year. I work very hard to maintain my grades. I am proud that despite the demanding schedules of both high school and club play, I have maintained the honor roll, athletic academic honor roll, received an Academic Letter and am a member of National Honor Society.
I am eager to play at the collegiate level and I want to find a college that is the best fit for me both academically and athletically. Academics come first and I am confident that I will continue to excel as a student athlete. My goal is to be a valuable asset on a volleyball team while completing my studies and preparing for my life after college.
