I am a very flexible and versatile player and can play any position on the court (minus middle blocker! ;-) My position was primarily libero during my freshman and sophomore year on the high school varsity team, as well as the national, traveling team for club. This past year, during my junior year in high school, I stepped in as setter, while our primary setter was out with a knee injury. During my club season, we had another injury and I was moved from DS to also playing OH and OPP. I love helping others and will sacrifice for the benefit of my teammates and my team. Through playing volleyball, I have learned how important it is to be a team player, to always work hard, and to never give up. I am constantly focused on trying to be better on and off the volleyball court. I’ve learned confidence, determination, accountability, a good attitude, and mental strength. I have lettered and played varsity volleyball for four years and was captain my junior year. I have also been on the national, traveling team for my club for the last 4 years and was selected as captain this year. I have been recognized as All-Area my sophomore and junior year.
I am a great leader and I attribute a big piece of that from being a part of my high student council for the last four years. We have been recognized for 7 straight years as a National Student Council of Excellence, Gold. And, last year, I was one of only four students that lettered in Student Council which is an achievement I am very proud of, as it is extremely difficult to do at my high school.
Ever since I was in elementary school I have had to work extremely hard compared to my peers in order to get the good outcome I was hoping for and I will be the first to admit school does not come easy to me. I am very grateful for all the hardships throughout school I have been through because it has taught me to advocate for myself and to speak up when things get to be “too much."
The reason I want to continue my academic and athletic career after high school is because in my heart I know I have not reached my peak academically or athletically. This makes me very excited about my future and the opportunities it will bring.
