Hi my name is Makayla, and I hope to be a college volleyball player. I’ve loved playing sports since I was young, playing soccer, basketball, and always playing sports during recess, like ultimate frisbee. I started playing volleyball for fun in my middle school’s after school sports program, and loved playing it, which led to me joining my high school’s volleyball team freshman year.
Freshman year, I didn’t really know how to competitively play volleyball, but learned I was willing to work hard, be dedicated, and be disciplined in learning how to play. I am a great passer and hitter, being an outside hitter and defensive specialist my sophomore and senior year, and libero my junior year. As well as, this has led to me being a 3 year varsity starter, lettering twice so far, being senior captain, achieving the CHSAA first team all state award twice, and achieving the first team all conference award in 2021.
I am very competitive, and in the future I want to become a better player, and continue to expand my skill set, which is something I can see myself doing in college. Furthermore, one of my goals is to become a better hitter, and work to increase my vertical jump. As well as, increase my passing ability. Not only is sports a goal of mine now, and in the future, but academics is also one of my goals because so far, I have achieved a 4.1 GPA, and I hope in college I will continue to thrive in academics and have at least a 4.0 GPA. As well as, complete my bachelors in computer science. I believe I will make a good candidate for your team because I work hard and am dedicated. Also, I am a good leader being a national honor society officer my junior and senior year, being student council treasurer from 2020-2021, student council president my senior year, being volleyball varsity captain this year, and tennis varsity captain in 2021. Above all I hope to become a great college athlete, student, and leader. I look forward to getting to meet you and learn more about your program!
