My name is Ayanna Gaston. I am attending Middletown High School as a freshman, graduating class of 2022. I played volleyball for 4 years now, 2 years as a outside hitter and the 2 years as a setter and opposite hitter in club and high school. My first year in high school volleyball I made the JV team. I am driven to volleyball because it is my dream and passion to play college volleyball. I am very open to new ideas and to learn something new in volleyball. I want to go to a school that supports my academic goals while being a student athlete. Right now in high school I am taking some science courses as my pathway. I am looking for a challenge academically and with athletically because I went to a academic/ and high level volleyball camp and they both taught me some amazing things to improve my volleyball skills. After going to a camp that challenged me, I spoke with the coaches and they motivated me even more and confirmed my interest in playing at the next level. It made me push myself to become a great player on and off the court and to always be positive and smile because being positive brings the best out of people. When I am not playing volleyball I also volunteer work in church, and I also do FFA as a club in high school. I help little kids learn more about volleyball and to show them how fun volleyball is and how you can enjoy it at any age. Since my first year in volleyball I have improved so much as a player and a person. I love being around my volleyball team because it is more than a team to me it’s like my family. Playing volleyball have shown me that it is my passion. Seeing my first college volleyball game Penn State vs Nebraska in person, have also shown me that playing volleyball in college is what I want to do.
