My name is Kaley Sutton and I attend Lake Mary High School in Lake Mary, Florida, where I will graduate in 2025. Lake Mary competes in Class 7A, which is the largest school classification for women's volleyball in Florida. As a sophomore, I made the Varsity roster for the 2022 season. As a freshman in 2021, I was the starting Outside Hitter on the Junior Varsity Volleyball team and was named as one of the team captains. I have played competitive volleyball for over 7 years and have played club volleyball for the Top Select Volleyball Academy for the past three years. I would like to continue playing in college, hopefully for a school located in the Southeastern United States.
I learned from my older brother, who overcame a number of bad injuries so he could play baseball in college, that there is no substitute for hard work. This includes work in the classroom as well as the court. I also think it's important to learn to be a leader, which is why I decided to serve in Lake Mary High School's Student Government. This past year, I served as my school's Sophomore Class President, and will serve as my school's Student Body Vice President during this upcoming year. Through all of these experiences, I've learned that I enjoy working as part of a group, which is one of the reasons why I would like to play volleyball in college.
During my high school years, I will continue to work with my high school and club coaches to improve my game as well as my strength and overall athletic ability. There are many schools in our district that have very strong volleyball programs, and I know I have to get better each year for our team to be competitive. I look forward to the challenge.
