My name is Kymber Brown, and I am the starting Libero/DS player for the class of 2021 on my varsity high school team. I have been playing competitive sports since I was 8 years old, but my true passion is volleyball.
On the court, I know I am not the biggest athlete, but I definitely play like I am the biggest and earn every opportunity I get for myself and my teams. I am a true lefty and can and will play anywhere my coaches need me, but my primary position is Libero/DS, with my secondary being setter. My coaches tell me I have great leadership and a positive attitude on and off the court. I was the captain for my 2018 club team for 15U and for my 2019 club team for 16U, both with Southern Select Volleyball.
Being the oldest of three, I have learned so many great lessons in life, such as, not to be selfish and always be a good role model even when you think someone isn’t watching, study hard, work harder, be dedicated, always finish what you start, stay positive, and lead by example. My little sister has really been a big influence on me, because she plays the same sports I do and always picks my number. I didn’t realize how much she truly looked up to me, so I strive to be the best I can be for her.
In school, I have honors classes and am currently ranked 94 out of 537 students in my graduating class. I was part of the National Junior Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes in middle school and now I am a part of the National Honor Society for high school. I volunteer at my old middle school and am the assistant coach to the JV and Varsity middle school volleyball teams. Also, I am the team manager for my high school wrestling team. Now in my Senior year of high school, I am a dual enrolled student at Polk State College, so I can get a head start on some college classes.
During my personal time, I volunteer at the American Legion Post 3, and at my church during summers with the youth volleyball camps, as well as, the Fall and Spring Volleyball Seasons for the youth program. In the summers, I volunteer with our church youth group on different mission trips. I also babysit for several family friend’s children, my brother and sister, and I house and pet sit when needed.
In the summer of 2018, I found out my high school coach was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, and I put together a fundraiser to sell bracelets to help raise money for her unexpected medical and personal expenses. In 3 months, I helped raise over $5500 for her and her family. You can visit the Facebook page I created for her through her journey at the following link.

My ultimate goal is to be the first one in my immediate family to go to college on an academic and/or athletic scholarship. I want the best college that fits my goals and dreams for my future in sports and my career. I would love to major in forensic psychology.
