Personal Statement

Playing college volleyball has always been a dream of mine since the sixth grade and would love the opportunity to play in college! Both on and off the court, I am well known for my outgoing and bubbly personality, my powerful presence, and work ethic. My name is Jamie Koopman and I have been playing volleyball for 6 years. I am six feet tall and weigh about 170 pounds, all legs and arms of course. From the very beginning, coaches liked me specifically because I was tall and very coachable. Since then, I have grown into a formidable middle hitter and have also played opposite side hitter. I am a very quick learner and I am always open to new coaches, new styles, and new techniques. Outside of volleyball, I spend most of my time on school. Sure, I am very social and love a good time, but I am focused on my studies and my dedication to the team. I have an un-weighted GPA of 3.81 and a weighted GPA of 4.89. I achieve mostly A’s and an occasional B. I am very strong in writing and have great leadership skills. This supports my hopes of pursing a career in public relations. I love a good challenge and am not afraid of hard work. If I am given a task, I will not stop until it is completed. I am very goal oriented and focused on getting things done. I take challenging AP classes and any course that provides me with another opportunity to write, I am even taking math classes a year ahead of my peers. I have a natural born talent of “working the room” as quoted by my preschool teacher when I was at a young age of 4. I have a very bold, yet friendly, and energetic personality. This also helps out on the court. I am positive and always making sure everyone is on the same level, spiritually. Talking is the easy part for me. Overall, I am a very happy and funny girl who spends most of my time practicing the sport I love- volleyball.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
