Emma Hooper '23 Recruiting Profile

Versatile, Unselfish, Intelligent Leader. My coaches, teammates, and teachers use these words to describe me. Whether it is in my Athletics, Academics, or Performing Arts, I believe that success will follow if I demonstrate respect, effort, and commitment. My team is my family. I want to play where I am challenged to be the best version of myself, starting in the classroom. I expect playing time is earned and a privilege, not a given. 

My club coach calls me his Swiss army knife because he can put me in any position. For the '22 season, we needed help defensively. So, I played Libero to ensure a solid serve/receive and passing defense. For '23, I am back as a 6-rotation OH. I appreciate a straightforward coach; being authentic and direct are big keys for me. I have a high volleyball IQ, enjoy being a team captain, and am a vocal leader. My favorite phrase is, "keep the ball away from #13!" 

I plan to study Language/Linguistics as an undergrad & Acting as a grad student. I plan to be a voice actor. Volleyball gives me a chance to perform in front of a live audience. Whether the villain or the victor, I love motivating the crowd to root for their favorite player and team.

• I am on the 2022 JVA & AVCA Watchlists, a 2022 JVA Athleader Nominee, a 2x AAU Academic All-American ('21, '22), selected to the SRVA High-Performance Camp, HM All-Region '22, 2nd Team All-Region '21,  2021 National High School Scholars Society inductee, 2021 Piedmont Healthcare Athlete of the Month, and 2021 Outstanding Field Athlete. I am also a 2019 Tri-M Society inductee, 2019 Foley Award winner, and published writer in the 2021 Athens Academy Literary Review.
