I have played long enough to recognize that players bring many qualities to the court, each one affecting the team dynamic. Some bring talent, some bring negative energy and drama, some bring both. What I bring to the court, what I contribute is a tremendous energy and will to win, while maintaining a level head, a positive energy, and an intelligent awareness of what is happening on both sides of the court.
I am not the loudest player and I am not necessarily the most vocal, but what I say I mean, and my body language and play attest the character and strength that I possess. I am one of five children, so my parents have done as much as they can to promote me. This has been a challenge at times watching friends leave to go play with better squads often having the money and time at their disposal. I have never once let this bring my attitude or play down. I have embraced the situation, led my team, and put every ounce of energy into my play.
This same grit is applied in the classroom. I play volleyball and basketball which has narrowed my free time. I have disciplined myself to make the grades. My grades will affect my life long after volleyball is a memory; it is my top priority and will be the number one factor in my final choice of college. I am grateful that I have been given an opportunity to play a sport I love, and grateful for the physical and academic gifts I have been given. I appreciate your time, and I wish you luck on your continuing season.
