Aloha, my name is Mahala Kaapuni. I am a student at Hilo High School. Sports has always been a part of my life. My family always played volleyball and I tagged along with them every chance I had. From a young age I played for fun with my older sisters but started playing club volleyball in 6th grade. I have come a long way in just a few short years. My freshman and sophomore year I played varsity volleyball and made it to states in volleyball and swimming. I am a versatile player and play in positions my team needs me most. In both my high school and club teams my primary position has been middle but I prefer outside and opposite. Athletics has helped me as a person by showing how to work as a team, develop a high level of commitment, and resilient. My love of sports, instilled in me by family, has brought me to be a well rounded person and a team player. I get along well with others and have a positive “can do” attitude. I am committed, when I say I will be there you can count on me to be there 100%. I am resilient, even when I am down, I pick myself up and try, try again. I am not perfect but I strive to accomplish my goals one step at a time.
