Hi my name is Tani Hoke. I am currently 17 and a Senior at Maryknoll High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have always loved to play sports. It seems as if there was never a time when I was younger when I was not holding a ball. I grew up involved in many physical activities (soccer, swimming, hula, dance, volleyball, and gymnastics) however, playing volleyball drew me away from the rest. Along with volleyball, I enjoy spending time with friends, going to the beach, hiking, and enjoying nature. I have been playing volleyball for eight years. Throughout this time, I have been fortunate to have coaches with different systems and philosophies. This has helped me to understand the game at a higher level and learn to adapt to new systems quickly.
This past school season I played on the Varsity team as a Libero/DS. I have also been involved in the USA volleyball program and the Aloha Region High Performance program. I was invited to the USAV A1 future select training camp (2015) in New Orleans, Louisiana and the USAV Holiday Region Prospects Training Block (2016) in Tempe, Arizona. I have made the Aloha Region High Performance teams for the past three- years, but due to the Aloha Region withdrawing the teams for administrative reasons, I was only able to attended the tournament in 2015 (DeMoines Iowa). The summer of 2016 my club team placed 2nd in the Patriot Division of the GJNC which took place in Indianapolis, Indiana. This past Far Western Tournament (2018) in Reno, Nevada; my team and I placed 2nd in the USA division. I have played for Spike and Serve for the past three-years under the direction of Kevin Wong and recently play for Na Keiki Mau Loa 16's coached by Nick Castello and Aven Lee. I plan on pursuing Psychology or Nursing as a major and aspire to play collegiate volleyball at the highest level possible.
