Hi, my name is Mikayla Haskell. I am a junior at Antioch IL high school, I first started volleyball in 8th grade at my middle school just for fun. After that season I really enjoyed It and wanted to start and get more involved. I did a lot of camps over the summer to help improve on my skills before my high school season. I ended up making our high school's JV team. After my high school season I started my first year of club at WI juniors. The tryouts went really well and I made the 15’1s team. I really enjoyed playing club, especially at a higher level. Going through my 15s season I was on the bench most of the time, and it was a really big change for me. Playing other sports I was never put in that situation and it was hard on me not being able to play. I was really upset by it so before my next season I did a lot more camps and clinics to improve my skills. I ended up making my high school varsity team and was a starter. Last year I played at WI juniors again on the 16 '1s as a starter on my team. When playing volleyball one of my favorite parts of the game is blocking. When we play higher, faster level teams that can hit harder, I love the feeling of getting a huge block. I love volleyball and I definitely want to continue on and play in college. I’m always trying harder to keep improving and get better to play at higher levels and hopefully one day in college.
