Sanne Hilbrich '12 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coach,

My name is Sanne Hilbrich and I am a 6'1", 150lb middle and right side hitter from the Sports Performance Volleyball Club. I was captain of my 17 Mizuno team, and a true leader on and off the court offering advice to coaches and teammates alike. I love the game of volleyball, and more importantly, I love competition. hard work, commitment and teamwork.  These are the most important attributes of my game and what I expect of my teammates. I believe that a team without strong chemistry and work ethic won’t go far. I learned the importance of such attributes through volleyball, as well as during a mission trip I took to India in the summer of 2011. Our project during this trip was to build a section of a school in a "below poverty line" community. We were also there to encourage students and civilians of that community to stay in school. There were 23 of us that had the same common goal: broaden the education of those less fortunate than us. Every day in the blazing Baghad, India sun we pick-axed, hoed, and dug for hours until the literal point of exhaustion. But in the end, the relationships we built and the deep bond we made with the members of the community was emotional and real.  That is my goal on the volleyball court--all 6 of us having the same common goal: to work hard, to be true to each other and to achieve the best. No matter what, day in and day out, running and sweating until we can't anymore, and we do it together. Nothing feels better than a win knowing you worked the hardest you could with the people that you trust the most--on and off the court.
